Find Your Sim Card Tray

To find the SIM tray on your model, look it up below. Insert a paper clip or a SIM-eject tool into the hole beside the SIM tray to open it. Push your way closer to the iPhone, but don't yank it out. If you're experiencing trouble ejecting the SIM tray, take your device to an Apple Store or your network provider for assistance.

Observe the notch in one corner of the new SIM card after removing it from the tray. Because of the notch, the new SIM card will only slot one way into the tray. Get a Sim Card Opener

Get a SIM card opener for your iPhone. A SIM card opener is a little gadget with a pointed metal tip and an oblong body. Every iPhone comes with one, but if you misplaced yours or don't have access to your iPhone's box, a simple paper clip would suffice.


Pop out the Sim Card

In the SIM tray, place the opener. Look around the sides of your iPhone for a little hole around the size of the tip of a pencil.

Insert the sharp end of your SIM card opener tool or a paperclip into the little hole. Continue to push the clip or the opener until a little tray carrying the SIM card pops out of the side of your iPhone.


Replace the Sim Card

Replace your SIM card. To empty the SIM tray, remove the SIM tray from your iPhone and pry the card out. Place the new SIM card in the empty SIM card tray.


Return the Sim Card

Return the tray to its original position. Slowly insert the SIM tray back into the slot on the side of your iPhone, keeping it in the same orientation as before. Gently press the tray into position until you hear a "click" from inside.


Your iPhone should automatically recognize the new mobile network once you change the SIM card.
